Yellow Stemmed Dogwood (Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’). Mature Height 1.5 -2.5m
The Yellow Stemmed Dogwood, also known as Cornus sericea ‘Flaviramea’, is a stunning deciduous shrub that lights up the winter landscape with its brilliant golden-yellow stems. A close relative of the Red Bark Dogwood, this variety is cherished for its year-round interest and versatility in the garden.
The vibrant yellow stems create a striking contrast in winter gardens, especially against snow or dark foliage. Lush green leaves emerge in spring and turn golden or burgundy in autumn before falling to reveal the bright yellow bark. Small clusters of creamy-white flowers bloom in late spring, followed by white berries that attract birds.
Grows 1.5–2.5 meters tall and spreads to form a dense, bushy shape.
Thrives in Moist Areas – Ideal for wet soils, mass planting at the edge of ponds, rain gardens, and erosion control, making it a great choice for challenging spots.
Winter Interest – The bright yellow stems add a cheerful pop of colour to dull winter landscapes. Use as a colourful hedge, background plant, or foundation shrub. Perfect for Wet Areas – Thrives in boggy soil, along ponds, streams, or rain gardens.
Cutting Garden – Golden stems are beautiful in winter arrangements and floral displays. For the best colour, prune older stems in late winter to early spring, as new growth has the most vibrant yellow.
Whether used for seasonal interest, erosion control, or wildlife support, the Yellow Stemmed Dogwood is a low-maintenance, high-impact shrub that brings warmth and brightness to any garden!
