Our Chrysanthemum Plug Plants are supplied in a 3cm x 5cm coir and peat plug.
When you receive your plugs, either pot them up or plant them out into their permanent positions. Water as needed, but take care not to overwater. For the best results, protect young plants from snails and slugs.
Chrysanthemum ‘Seaton’s Flirt’ is a stunning intermediate decorative chrysanthemum, admired for its long, curling petals that create a delicate effect. It is a sought-after variety for horticultural shows and cut flower arrangements, where its elegant form and striking colour stand out.

Suitable For: Cut flowers, garden displays, and exhibitions
Growing Options: Can be grown in the ground or in pots

  • Type: Intermediate decorative
Bloom Size: Large (15–20 cm across)
Colour: Soft pink to lavender, with a hint of warmth at the petal tips
    Petal Shape: Gracefully curling
Growth Habit: Tall, upright with sturdy stems. Height 1m
Flowering Period: Autumn (April to May)
Planting & Positioning
Light: Requires full sun (at least 6 hours daily) to encourage strong growth.
Soil: Prefers well-draining, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.0).
Spacing:
Plant 30–45 cm apart for good airflow and disease prevention.
Watering:
Keep soil moist but not waterlogged

Water at the base to avoid wetting foliage, which can lead to fungal issues.
Feeding:
Early growth: High-nitrogen fertiliser to develop strong stems and foliage.
Mid-season: Balanced fertiliser (NPK 10-10-10) for overall plant health.
Budding stage: High-potassium feed to enhance flower quality and longevity.
  • Pinching:
Remove the growing tips when plants reach 15cm tall to encourage bushy growth.
The final cutback is to be completed before the 20th of January.
    Disbudding:
To produce larger, high-quality blooms, remove side buds, keeping only one terminal bud per stem.
Staking & Support: Use stakes or grow-through supports, as tall plants with large blooms can be prone to bending.
Pest & Disease Management
Pests: Monitor for aphids, spider mites, and thrips—treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
Diseases: Powdery mildew and botrytis can be issues—ensure good airflow and avoid overhead watering.

Flowering & Show Preparation
  • Timing:
Adjust pinching and feeding schedules to synchronise blooms for exhibitions.
Shading: Light shading in late summer can help delay flowering if needed.
Storage: Cut flowers last well when kept cool and hydrated.
