When you receive your plugs or 7cm potted plants, either pot them up or plant them out into their permanent positions. Water as needed, but take care not to overwater. For the best results, protect young plants from snails and slugs
Chrysanthemum Green Spider is a striking spider-form chrysanthemum producing mostly lime-green blooms. Flower colour can shift depending on growing conditions, developing more cream yellow-green tones in full sun, while semi-shaded positions and cooler temperatures encourage deeper green hues. Plants grow to a medium height.

Blooming Period: April to May
Suitable For: Cut flowers, garden displays, and exhibitions
Growing Options: Can be grown in the ground or in pots

Characteristics:
  • Flower Type: Spider
  • Colour: Pale Lime green when grown in a shaded postion, will throw more to a green - yellow - cream if grown in full sun
  • Bloom Size: Medium, depending on cultivation methods
  • Bloom Time: Mid-to-late autumn (April–May in New Zealand)
  • Growth Habit: Height 90cm
Cultivation & Care:
  • Pruning:
    • January prune for shaping and strong branching
    • A light tidy-up in February to remove weak shoots
  • Fertilizing:
    • Use a balanced slow-release fertiliser like Novatec or Osmocote
    • Apply sulphate of potash leading up to flowering for improved bloom quality and colour intensity
  • Pinching/Disbudding:
    • Early pinching encourages more branching
    • Disbudding (removing side buds) helps develop larger, more refined blooms
  • Support: Staking or netting is recommended to keep stems upright, especially in windy areas
  • Watering: Keep soil evenly moist but well-drained to avoid root issues
Special Features & Uses:
  • A classic show bloom, often grown for exhibitions
  • Excellent as a cut flower
  • Works beautifully in floral arrangements and garden displays
